It’s a relatively quiet start to the month of September with only one major release, and one releasing in key cities ahead of Labor Day weekend. Marvel officially kicks off their new era in Phase 4 with the introduction of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings while indie drama Mogul Mowgli joins it. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings – Having changed his name to Shaun and moving to San Francisco, Shang-Chi (Simu Liu) thought he left his past behind. However, when assassins come after him for his mother’s necklace, he and his best friend Katy (Awkwafina) are drawn into the life he was trying to leave. This puts him on a path to conflict with his estranged father, Wenwu (Tony Leung), the head of the Ten Rings criminal organization. For showtimes click here.
Simu Liu, star of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings tells our interviewer what his relationship with Awkwafina was like behind the scenes, reveals which Shang-Chi action figure he thinks is the coolest and tells fans a little about the movie in Mandarin!
We chatted with Jayden Zhang, who plays Young Shang-Chi in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. He reveals that when he was cast, his mother kept it a secret from him at first. He also talks about working with Tony Leung and Fala Chen, who play his parents, and reveals when he met Simu Liu, who plays the older version of his character.
Mogul Mowgli – On the cusp of breaking out with his first international tour, British Pakistani rapper Zed (Riz Ahmed) takes a quick detour to visit his family in the U.K. after a two-year absence. During his visit he soon discovers he has an autoimmune disease that severely affects his livelihood. As his condition worsens, his career breakthrough is in danger of slipping away, leaving Zed with an uncertain future.
