This weekend offers a number of exciting new releases. The Woman King starring Viola Davis, Pearl starring Mia Goth, and the David Bowie portrait Moonage Daydream all just premiered at TIFF, while the murder-mystery See How They Run features an all-star cast. The Woman King – In the 1800s, the Agojie are an all-female unit of warriors who protect the African Kingdom of Dahomey with skills and a fierceness unlike anything the world has ever seen.

See How They Run – In West End London in the 1950s, plans for a movie version of the smash-hit play The Mousetrap come to an abrupt halt on the night of the 100th performance when a dead body is found on stage. World-weary detective Stoppard (Sam Rockwell) and eager rookie Constable Stalker (Saoirse Ronan) take on the puzzling whodunit within the glamorously sordid world of theater, investigating the mysterious homicide at their own peril. Moonage Daydream – Considered one of the greatest musical artists of our time, David Bowie has been moving culture for over 50 years. This is the first film to be supported by the David Bowie Estate, which granted filmmaker Brett Morgen unprecedented access to their collection. Told through imagery, personal footage, unseen performances, and anchored by Bowie’s own music and words, the film immerses audiences in the unique world of “Bowie.” Click here for showtimes. The Silent Twins – The true story of twin sisters June (Letitia Wright) and Jennifer Gibbons (Tamara Lawrance), who grew up in Wales. By the time they reach the age of eight, they communicate only with each other. As the only Black children at school, they are bullied, and are eventually sent to a special school.
