New trailer released for The Bourne Legacy

By Tribute on February 9, 2012 | 11 Comments

Are you ready for more Bourne? After the huge success of the first three films in the Bourne franchise, fans have been waiting eagerly for the next installment. Unlike the first three films, which starred Matt Damon in the role of Jason Bourne, The Bourne Legacy will serve as more of a spin-off then a continuation of the story. Jeremy Renner stars as Aaron Cross, a new CIA operative struggling with the life-and-death consequences left behind by Bourne in the previous flicks. This highly-anticipated blockbuster will feature a new string of characters played by Rachel Weisz, Edward Norton, and Oscar Isaac, as well returning franchise faces Albert Finney, Joan Allen, and Scott Glenn. Check out the action-packed trailer for The Bourne Legacy above!

I’m pleasantly surprised by the trailer. As a Bourne fan I was disappointed to hear they were making another without Matt Damon, but I like the angle they”™re taking with the fourth. I’m glad they’re building on the universe opposed to taking the — VERY LAME — route by turning this movie into reboot.

Before anyone says that Jason Bourne should be in this movie, look up the definition of LEGACY!! He doesn’t have to be in this movie and Jeremy Renner is great for this kind of movie. He was amazing in SWAT, The Hurt Locker, The Town and MI: Ghost Protocol. He will also be terrific in The Avengers!!

You can’t have Bourne movies without Jason BOURNE…it’s just wrong.

I haven’t read the books, but although Robert Ludlum(the original author of the Bourne series) has passed on, others have taken it upon themselves to continue that story. So, it’s actually quite possible for there to be Bourne related movies without Jason Bourne 🙂

Sorry but I won’t be rushing to the theater to see this one….MAYBE rent it. Matt Damon made this franchise, without him it will be like any other spin-off movie….a watered down version of the real thing. To me they left so many possibilities they could have carried on from at the end of the last. I was looking forward to a new Bourne movie with Bourne in it so I could get closure on that character and story. Not a totally new everything. Count me out.

Renner is cool. the hurt locker rocked. he suits this role,i think looking a lot like daniel craig as 007. and could be a great ride in a bourne legacy flick. i’m looking forward to this. you can get a vibe from a trailer. this is just a teaser and looks awesome. psyched for this.

Sadness. I have read all of the books… The 1st 3 movies, did in fact follow the book. But there are 3 other books.. Eric Van Lustenbader, imput from Grisham, etc… And Jason Bourne does live on. Why not finish up the series, WHO is TREADSTONE? The last book it was revealed. Treadstone was an alternate agent as superior To Jason. (trained by CI) but placed back in Russia under secrecy, to fight the underground Russian mob, and Black .. The plot was all over the world with many twists and turns. Moles inside PSU, CIA, NSA, counter intilligence, with Jason Bourne as the “ROUGE agent” Who with much difficulty is able to sort out the mess of lies and deciets.
The series should have used Matt Damon.. what a shame. That’s why I’m Sad.
Those people doing the Script.. No doubt I Guess, that there would have been some licencing issues, that was tying there hands.
