No more nude scenes for Ewan McGregor

Ewan McGregor, who has bared all for films such as Trainspotting, Young Adam and Velvet Goldmine, has announced that he doesn’t want to do any more nude scenes, saying they’re “rarely of any use.” Just days before his 40th birthday, he told UK paper The Express: “I’m getting older and the actresses stay younger. I don’t want to become Clint Eastwood, where his love interests seem 50 years younger than him. You never want female co-stars to feel like you’re taking advantage of the situation. Anyhow, sex scenes are terribly exposing and rarely of any use in learning about character.” McGregor is currently starring on the big screen as Jim Carrey‘s love interest in I Love You Phillip Morris. Next up he plays the son of a gay father in Beginners, opening June 2011.

For a guy shying away from nudity he’s showing a fair amount of ass by comparing himself to Clint Eastwood. Ewan’s a good actor, but a Clint Eastwood he is not.

For starters, I think we’re missing the point here people… Women have been EXPOSING themselves for decades – FULL FRONTAL, and we don’t blink.

Ewan is one of the VERY few men who has done full frontal, and let me just say, that I applaud him for having the b*lls (pun intended) to do it, and for having the merchandise to make it worthwhile viewing.

I CANNOT emphasize what a pleasure (pun intended) it has been to see Ewan in his glory, and while I think that nudity or groping in a movie should NOT be gratuitous, I will regret not having just one more peek at Ewan’s very BIG and special gift. Only a confident man show it all. Hmmm, what does that say about the others who haven’t crossed that line??? Thanks for the memories Ewan.

Clint Eastwood is a terrific director and I like a western as mush as the next guy. But Ewan is By far a much superior actor with more “balls” than most Hollywood celebrities, so I’m not sure exactly why you guys are harping on him. Also, it didn’t seen like he was comparing himself to Clint Eastwood anyways.

All he Ewan is saying is that he dosn’t really feel comfortable getting naked with his female co-stars as he gets older cuz his female co-starts stay the same age.

In complete agreement with Bree and Joshua. I think Ewan Mcgregor is severely under-appreicated as an actor. He’s incredibly versatile. People don’t seem to think he’s as popular as other celebrities because he does a load of different films. He’s not someone who comes out with movies he hopes will all be hits. He can go from doing big features like Moulin Rouge and Angels and Demons to small budgets like Young Adam and Nora (he plays James Joyce). He’s done animation, musicals, dramas, blockbusters, romantic comedies, thrillers, mysteries and on. He’s done a lot of good work. Love him.

And his comment about no more nudity is right. You watch movies with these older men having sex/love scenes with actresses that you come to find were born in their early 20’s, if even that. Yes, its art, yes its acting, yes they’re in character but I’m sure the fact that the man they’re making out with is 10 years or older than they are and has a wife and kids waiting at home doesn’t completely slip their mind.

Sorry, not “born in their early 20’s”. typo.

He had a a little winky anyways so no great loss for the women and gay audiences.

Just wanted to follow-up and inform “Spanky” that Ewan does NOT have a “little winky”… OH, OH, OH, contraire! Check out Pillow Book. It’s been almost 20 years and I STILL remember IT!
