Oprah Winfrey taken down a notch

By Alexandra Heilbron on June 5, 2009 | 101 Comments

Angelina JolieAfter two years at the top of Forbes‘ annual Celebrity 100 Power List, Oprah Winfrey has been taken down a notch. Taking over as most powerful celebrity in the world is Angelina Jolie, despite Oprah’s $275 million per year income. Jolie ranked higher this year because of her constant media exposure (and she earns several million a year as well). Oprah was second, Madonna was third (earning $110 million last year)  and Beyoncé ($87 million) was fourth. The highest ranking male was golfer Tiger Woods in fifth. Bruce Springsteen was a surprise at sixth, while Steven Spielberg ranked seventh. Other notable names on the list were Jennifer Aniston at 8, Brad Pitt at 9, David Letterman (No. 14), Simon Cowell (No. 25), Twilight author Stephenie Meyer at No. 26, Miley Cyrus at 29 (not bad for a 16-year-old), Ryan Seacrest (No. 44), Daniel Radcliffe (No. 70), Reese Witherspooon (No. 71) and Carrie Underwood (No. 75).

Isn’t it sad that money is equated to power?

  3. Kap • June 5, 2009 @ 3:32 PM

Well heck just give me a little of the interest these ladies are making. Go for it.
Hey we think nothing of paying multi millions to sports player so why not. If these ladies are smart enough to make the money I say good for them.

Does anyone really care who’s on the Forbes list?? Seriously!

    Monique on June 5, 2009 4:31 PM

Actually, I am interested in the Forbes list. I like to know who the shakers and movers are and who is influencing a lot of the social movements …. ie money equates power = changes, social involvement, justice, support of childrens programs, global reform and equality. So you may not be interested, but most people are. Seriously!

Yah!!! Bruce….6th…even though you’re first on my list!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Good for Miley…

I feel it’s sad that stars are regarded as icons…especially a selfish and manilpulative woman like Angelina Jolie…a house wrecker and clearly an obsessed woman who is quite smart at portraying this “Humanitarium image” of being this GIVING woman…she’s no saint…nor no Mother Teresa…she knows how to play the media..and those sultry lips do her justice in Hollywood…big deal she’s on Forbes…another magazine that idolizes GREED…typical…

  8. mandee • June 6, 2009 @ 7:39 AM

Silvana on June 6, 2009 2:04 AM are we to assume that you know angelina personally? because it sure sounds like you think you do. she doesnt seem “manilpulative” to me at all. she is saving people around the world, and you honestly think shes not doing it because shes a good person? thats a pretty far step to take. also, about being a “house wrecker” im sure if you met someone that was married and had to play love scenes with them and ended up falling in LOVE with them, and they fell in love with you and broke up with the wife/husband they had that was unwilling to give them what they wanted (kids etc) you wouldnt call YOURSELF a “house wrecker” now would you? you can not blame someone for falling in love with someone else, thats their HEARTS decision, not their own. im wondering when angelina became “obsessed” and what she is “obsessed” about? please do tell. and shes no mother teresa? (i can totally hear someone freaking out about me saying this) how do you know what mother teresa was really like? she could have been “manipulative” but yet you defend her since she did nice things for people? give your head a shake, it makes you a hypocrite to assume one person is a saint because they do selfless acts of kindness, but condemn another who also does selfless acts of kindness that we dont see ANYONE else stepping up to plate and doing themselves.

    Silvana on June 6, 2009 2:04 AM

Let me guess..another “Team Aniston” member?
You find it sad that stars are regarded as icons? And then there are those like you that keep going back to ancient history by keep talking about a marriage that lasted for all of 5 years? Because of Brad being married to Jennifer for 5 long years, now people like you find it necessary to call a person they have never even met, a home wrecker? Seriously!
Silvana, please, you and all the other so called “Team Aniston” members to do yourselves a favour and try to find somebody that will inspire you to do something else with your life and contribute positively to the human race.
Just move on already, that story is old and worse yet ..tired!
You know nothing about Mother Theresa; she would like to rest in peace and would definitely prefer not to be referred to by those that have no clue as to what to do with their lives. OK? Did you know that envy is one of the deadly sins? Let it go already.

  10. tributegirl • June 6, 2009 @ 11:05 AM

You know nothing about Mother Theresa either, so how do you know what she would prefer?

I’m not a big Angelina fan, but I’m wondering what she has to do to make amends to all the people in the world for all the horrible things she’s done (meaning fall in love with a man whose marriage was basically over, have children with him, adopt needy children with him, pour millions of dollars into charities…). Why do people hate her so much?

  11. Mimi Toronto • June 6, 2009 @ 11:13 AM

    tribute girl…
    What???
Just want to pick a fight for the hell of it, or just don’t get it either?

People don’t hate Angelina Jolie, they just want to be her and can’t.

I repeat: envy is one of the seven deadly sins. It just changes people, completely.

  12. tributegirl • June 6, 2009 @ 1:03 PM

Mimi Toronto, nope, not looking for a fight, just wondering what so many people have against her, and it’s not all envy.
By the way, why don’t you tell us all about your personal experiences with Mother Theresa?

  13. jackie • June 6, 2009 @ 7:34 PM

this is why some celebrities hate being famous. So many people bash them because they assume they know exactly who they are. You dont know Angelina Jolie, most of the time the Media lies. She could be a mean person or a nice person. You will never know, sorry

  14. Nancy • June 6, 2009 @ 7:46 PM

That is not only with famous people, jackie. People always judge others…even here on Tribute.

I also don’t think that Mimi should ASSUME that Silvana or anyone else “have no clue as to what to do with their lives” just because she doesn’t like or agree with Silvana’s opinion. Silvana never said anything to you or in the form of an attack on you Mimi, so why were you just trying to pick a fight…for the hell of it?

  15. Isabel • June 6, 2009 @ 8:58 PM

All of you ladies need to get a life!

  16. Silvana • June 6, 2009 @ 9:31 PM

Thanks Nancy…and Isabel….Guess what democracy means…well opinions are meant to be shared…and YES I’m not a jennifer Anistan fan either…I happen to feel that people like Angelina Jolie KNOW like MADONNA how to USE the media for their OWN interests!! Get it…and yes I have a BA in communications and know the POWER of progaganda and what it does for anyone who knows how to use it to their advantage…my only reason for even SAYING my suggestion is that ” WHO CARES what FORBES Magazine SAYS”…just like the stupidity of ” People magazine’s most beautiful women in the world: it’s a JOKE!! and Americans and Canadians and people in general CRAVE news that is JUICY and again CORRUPT…it’s the nature of people…and speaking of the 7 deadly sins to that woman who said her points about Mother Teresa…YES I’m aware of those sins and I’m not a SAINT…but nor do I portray this image like hers…she’s HUMAN like all of us…and I’m sure there are BETTER people out there making a REAL difference in the world like Michael J. FOX a REAL ICON and HERO to many who know what REAL pain and suffering is…

So take a PILL lady and get REAL…life is about hardships and joys…but celebrities are REAL people with faults like all of us…and today FANS are like sheer IDIOTS..and all those paparrazzi’s NEED to get a LIFE…Cheers 🙂 Silvana…

  17. mandee • June 6, 2009 @ 11:28 PM

maybe the reason “Americans and Canadians and people in general CRAVE news that is JUICY and again CORRUPT” is because they are bored with their own lives. real people (im sure its true with the celebs) are BORING. they NEED to know whats going on in other peoples lives because they assume it will make their life more exciting. why does this bother anyone? youre a sucker, just like the rest of us silvana. “FANS are like sheer IDIOTS..and all those paparrazzis NEED to get a LIFE” arent you JUST as bad when you come in here and read and comment on these things? and drag mother teresa into it?

  18. lily • June 7, 2009 @ 7:50 AM

Silvana your degree in communications must have left out a course in basic English. “House wrecker” means someone who demolishes houses; you meant “home wrecker”. “Humanitarium” sounds like an institution of some sort but “humanitarian” is what you meant. Also, “paparazzi’s” when you just mean a plural shouldn’t have an apostrophe.
I don’t have a degree or anything, just good old grade 12 English.

  19. Anon • June 7, 2009 @ 2:25 PM

  20. Jo-Anne • June 7, 2009 @ 7:35 PM

lily, whilst I don’t agree 100 percent on Silvana’s remarks, and your corrections appear accurate, I have to say I noticed ages ago the majority of your posts contain many many errors…I wouldn’t be so quick to judge (in that capacity at least)…

  21. tributegirl • June 7, 2009 @ 8:09 PM

    Silvana on June 6, 2009 9:31 PM
“there are BETTER people out there making a REAL difference in the world like Michael J. FOX a REAL ICON and HERO to many who know what REAL pain and suffering is”

Actually, I’m pretty sure that, like her or not, Angelina is a real icon and hero to many who know what real pain and suffering is, as well. Michael J Fox is helping people who suffer the same as he does, which is heroic, Angelina is helping people who are suffering in a way that she never has had to suffer, also heroic.

  22. Nancy • June 7, 2009 @ 8:18 PM

You shouldn’t be “so quick to judge” either, Jo-Anne….your spelling isn’t perfect either…neither is mine, neither is…

  23. lily • June 7, 2009 @ 8:57 PM

Joanne, I don’t judge. That was my whole point. Silvana called people “idiots” and told them to “take a pill” (I think she even used caps to stress the insults) while parading her degree as if she had the right to put other people down. I know I make tons of mistakes but I don’t insult other people about their media literacy skills either. And, not that it should matter, I ran that last message through spell check just because I KNOW I make lots of errors and I didn’t want to give Silvana a chance to write me off. And yeah, I checked this one too, then copied and repasted the whole thing here! And I’m NEVER going to this trouble again so you can start judging me again on my next message LOL!

  24. Jo-Anne • June 7, 2009 @ 10:31 PM

    I wasn’t judging either of you…

for the record, I didn’t think she was “parading” her degree either. She, like others, have a right to be proud of their accomplishments (and a BA is a prestigious accomplishment in my opinion…) I feel it was mentioned to demonstrate a point re the media and I felt it was a good point…

also, I stated I didn’t agree 100 percent with her post…I’ll clarify – the reference to fans as sheer idiots I thought was unnecessary, I feel ANYONE who even posts once on this site would surely in some ways be classified as a “fan”…

lastly, I am 100 percent in agreement with Silvana’s first post re AJ…opinion, everyone, opinion…telling people to take a pill, relax, chill, etc. – why get so upset over that? trivial…

p.s. I am not running spell check, never do…so I’ll expect fallout…bring it on! ha ha

  25. Nancy • June 7, 2009 @ 11:15 PM

“and a BA is a prestigious accomplishment in my opinion”

Good to know, Jo-Anne. Guess I’m not as “uneducated” as you like to parade around Tribute saying that I am, huh? Also, good to know you’re “not judging”. I’m chuckling right now about your constant pack of lies.

  26. Silvana • June 8, 2009 @ 12:42 AM

Hello Jo-Anne :)…thanks for your feedback..

Nice to hear that there are some intelligent and clearly GROUNDED GOOD NATURED people out there, I must admit my first comments may have appeared to be quite harsh, so I do apologize for that commment regarding FANS..that’s TOO GENERAL to put all FANS in the same category would be foolish… and then I would be a hypocrite since I TOO have my share of appreciation for various actors and celebrities…YES I do believe that goodness exists…and YES naturally I am a BIG fan of some actors and actresses( The list is LONG…beginning with Daniel Day Lewis, Juliette Binouche, Cate Blanchett, Kate Winslet, Leonardo Di Caprio, Al Pacino..it’s called CHARACTER ACTORS) for those YOUNG pups out there unfamiliar with acting…did I mention I’m an actress who has studied Stanislavsky, Uta Hagan, Meisner…so to all of YOU Angelina LOVERS my message is
” GOOD for YOU If you LOVE her acting than BLESS YOUR HEART”…she’s OKAY in my books when it comes to acting chops…I’ve seen MUCH BETTER”…AMEN… now hopefully I can clean the slate with all this ridiculousness of WOMEN BASHING… I have nothing PERSONAL against HER…nor do I give a crap about her personal strenghths and weaknesses, sure I mentioned the house wrecker for a REASON…GET IT!!! That’s the media, it’s about selling magazine’s and people LIKE to see other people SUFFER as they did with Britney Spears…I TOOK the liberty of writing this blog for a SHEER test…and I knew this is the SLANDER I would get from SOME childish JUVENILE WOMEN…so typical…Angelina has great POTENTIAL…she was BRILLIANT in GIA…and Girl Interrupted…I just FIND it RIDICULOUS how the media choose to constantly make a BIG DEAL about ordinary people…YES she has done I’m sure GOOD things…but then again WHY would she NOT with that notority & Fame,…like an athelete who earns millions of dollars for basically PLAYING a SPORT all day why would they NOT GIVE BACK…it’s LIKE the film ” PAY it FORWARD”…great MOVIE…the message is that IF everyone COULD HELP a STRANGER and just be GOOD NATURED…we ALL as HUMAN BEINGS would be better OFF…..there are everyday HEROS amonsgt us everyday that make a REAL difference…fire-fighters, nurses, teachers, volunteer workers, EVEN myself…the angels are among us…and all it takes is to STAY positive…and give someone a break…now that break can come in different forms…advice, a generous act of giving…and even listening to a soul that is in agony…miracles exist everyday…and human beings can make that difference…that’s it for me…I’m an optimist and I just wanted to try a test to the heart and soul of reader’s out there…and some of you are clearly GOOD souls and others are ” THIRTEEN CONVERSATIONS ABOUT ONE THING”…watch it someday and then you’ll understand the difference…some people thrive on other people’s mishaps and others clearly want to see the GOOD in people and LIFE….that’s me….So Cheers to LIFE…la VIDA…yes what’s FREE!!.. and the BEST GIFT of life, is living it…as BEST as you can…in italian we call it ” LA DOLCE VITA” the good life…C’est tout…I’m outta here~~~ Ciao 🙂

  27. lily • June 8, 2009 @ 7:19 AM

Hey Silvana in the words of Joanne herself your right to be “telling people to take a pill, relax, chill, etc. – why get so upset over that? trivial” so why the ten mile posting on how easy breezy you are? Not that “SLANDER I would get from SOME childish JUVENILE WOMENso typical” seems so cheery or seeing the best in life to me, but then I don’t have a university degree like you so maybe its my dumb mind alone that sees your endless post as desperate and shrill.

  28. Mimi Toronto • June 8, 2009 @ 4:24 PM

    Lily:
    Amen sister. 😉
I wondered how I landed on this website in the 1st place, it was so that I would read posts like yours and understand that sane people like you exist on sites like these. Thank you. Sites like imdb are scary, and for a moment I thought that this one might be going that direction as well.

  29. Nancy • June 8, 2009 @ 6:13 PM

This one is “scary” too, Mimi…..but only when Jo-Anne is on. 😛

  30. Jo-Anne • June 8, 2009 @ 8:55 PM

    you’re most welcome, Silvana…

  31. lily • June 8, 2009 @ 9:24 PM

Thanks Mimi! I look forward to sharing some fun commonsense type conversations with you. You sound like a nice person!

  32. Silvana • June 10, 2009 @ 1:05 AM

Hello lily & Mimi…are you a little daft or what??? I guess ladies it’s clear as day that reading is definitely not one of your strengths is it??? You see it’s the FIRST Blog I have EVER written…and YES it’s LONG…why because like many people I find it fascinating how PEOPLE like YOU are so quick to judge…if you READ that last BLOG..you would have noticed that I was including myself in the propaganda that this BRADGELINI AFFAIR in the past 4/5 years has created for so many people…it SELLS YES!!! like Madonna knows how to use the MARKETING world to her advantage….I just got back from a marketing magazine awards show…and YES I had an interesting conversation with another woman who LIKE MYSELF feels this whole BRADGELINA affair is stupid and so OVERDONE in the public EYE….so it’s a FREE COUNTRY LADY…and YES LILY and MIMI should get together and have TEA or coffee…while me and Joanne should have a DRINK…sounds appropriate…you ladies sound VERY YOUNG…I’m sure…wet around the ears…no doubt…anyhow Joanne anytime you want to chat I’m open to any conversation…after all wisdom comes with age…

  33. lily • June 10, 2009 @ 7:04 AM

    BRADGELINI?
    BRADGELINA?
With all that wisdom, degree in communications lady, try identifying your subject accurately.

  34. Jo-Anne • June 10, 2009 @ 8:20 AM

up for it, Silvana, in fact would welcome it, the “pickin’s” have been slim on here for awhile now…

  35. Nancy • June 10, 2009 @ 9:43 AM

Lily on June 10, 7:04 AM….couldn’t agree more.

Silvana….”while me and Joanne should have a DRINK…sounds appropriate”. A Texas mickey would be more “appropriate” to put up with Jo-Anne! And crack….lots and lots of crack. 😀

    No problem, Jo Jo….anytime 😉

  36. Nancy • June 10, 2009 @ 9:46 AM

“after all wisdom comes with age…”

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!

#1 – “Age” has absolutely nothing to do with wisdom

#2 – See Jo-Anne, others can tell you are an old hag too!

  37. Jo-Anne • June 10, 2009 @ 9:47 AM

I believe you should keep your drug remarks to yourself, Nance, highly inappropriate, especially given the fact you repeatedly make reference to my police environment…

  38. Nancy • June 10, 2009 @ 10:14 AM

Hahahahahaha…..screw you Jo-Anne! I believe you should keep ANY & ALL remarks to yourself. Everything you say is “highly inappropriate”. As for your “police environment”….informants don’t have any pull whatsoever! OMG…do you really think they would arrest me and throw me in jail for…for….for talking about “crack”? I’m really scared Jo-Anne…please don’t! What a f-ing joke you are! Bring it on! 😛 LMFAO!

  39. Jo-Anne • June 10, 2009 @ 10:32 AM

you are completely outta control and Tribute would be wise to remove you…

  40. Nancy • June 10, 2009 @ 12:51 PM

I’m “outta control”???? (Nice slang btw, LMAO) Maybe you should go back and re-read your own posts, Jo-Anne. And if you think it would be “wise” for Tribute to “remove” me….then maybe I shouldn’t be the only one who gets “removed”. Fair is fair, right? 😉

  41. Nancy • June 10, 2009 @ 12:53 PM

Oh…I know! I know! Maybe I could just do what Anon/Gina does/would do….just change my IP address….LMFAO! What a “TROLL”!!

  42. tributegirl • June 10, 2009 @ 2:45 PM

Wow, Silvana sure knows how to play dirty. Anyone who disagrees with her gets totally slammed. Very uncool.

  43. lily • June 10, 2009 @ 5:07 PM

tributegirl, as always, you are the voice of reason. Silvana is scary. Also agree with Nancy that age does not have anything to do with wisdom. Neither apparently does a degree in communications…

  44. Anon • June 10, 2009 @ 5:07 PM

    tributegirl on June 10, 2009 2:45 PM
Not dirty, just a self proclaimed fool

  45. Anon • June 10, 2009 @ 5:09 PM

    Silvana on June 10, 2009 1:05 AM

Amazing how those that drone on and on think that anyone is interested beyond the first insult. At the very least, save it for last. At least you would captivate an audience for a few seconds. Personally I lost interest in the first self-important line. From there, you’ve lost all credibility in my books. Honestly, I don’t think you are quite Jo’s style. She doesn’t come through here like a bulldozer, she is a little more refined. You might want to have a couple of beers with Nancy and swap muscle stories – seems more your style.

  46. Nancy • June 10, 2009 @ 6:10 PM

Anon, I have more “smarts” than you think. If you are so “smart” why are you wasting your “intelligence” working at an insurance company? LMFAO!!!!! Oh, and unlike your trailer park self, I don’t drink “beers” with ho’s! 😛

  47. Jo-Anne. • June 10, 2009 @ 8:05 PM

hmmmm…you constantly poke fun at everyone’s career choices Nance, but curiously HIDE your own….obviously not very proud of your own “career” – use that term loosely with you…

  48. Nancy • June 10, 2009 @ 8:15 PM

Well, what do you expect from me Jo-Anne? I mean, I’m constantly told on here by you, demigod and Anon/Gina that I am “uneducated” and that I am not as “intelligent” as you 3, hahaha. I’ve told you before I don’t have to “showboat” my profession and I really don’t believe for even a fraction of a second that you work anywhere near the police, heck maybe Anon/Gina doesn’t work for an insurance company either…who really cares? I know you “intelligent” ones said you don’t care what I think…so why are you pursuing this, huh? Like I would EVER tell you guys what I do…hahahaha!!! DUH!

  49. Nancy • June 10, 2009 @ 8:17 PM

Oh, and I think there are a few things you use “loosely”… LMFAO!

  50. tributegirl • June 10, 2009 @ 8:21 PM

Thanks lily, but I have been known to be pretty nasty myself at times, I’ve just been trying to stop doing that. But I agree with Gina, Silvana just went for the throat from the word go, I also agree that she doesn’t seem to be Jo’s style, or the style of anyone on here. Maybe she’d be a good match for Nat?

  51. lily • June 10, 2009 @ 8:27 PM

I dunno, I have a soft spot for Nat after he said some very nice things to me. I still wonder where he went and hope everything is okay with him… I think her match is more like one of those guys who posts whole pages of preaching gibberish. Those long winded “holier than thou” types deserve each other.

  52. tributegirl • June 10, 2009 @ 8:55 PM

Yeah, one of them! Perfect! I remember Nat was actually really nice to you, which I found weird, because he was a real nasty piece of work with other people, often for no reason other than to start something. I’ve been wondering about Jim lately, he hasn’t been on much at all lately.

  53. Anon • June 10, 2009 @ 9:04 PM

    Nancy on June 10, 2009 8:15 PM
Yup, stupid ole me works in the insurance industry….and get ready for the “showboating” also have a seasonal side business. You’ve probably even met me at one of the events I’ve done in the TO area. Quick, google Gina at various events and let me know what you come up with! lol

By the way, I’ve never said you were uneducated, just no match for me in certain areas.

    tributegirl on June 10, 2009 8:21 PM

No kidding. I could FEEL the obnoxious, arrogant and overbearing energy coming through my screen. lol Great to be a confident and assertive woman, but this one is grossly full of herself. Her last line is hilarious….wisdom comes with age. Its obvious from the style and tone of writing that she still has a few years to go. But then again, she is new and everyone makes mistakes so we really should cut her some slack until her next posting. lol

  54. Nancy • June 10, 2009 @ 9:32 PM

No, you didn’t. Jo-Anne called me “uneducated”…you also never said the words that I was “no match” for you “in certain areas”, either. In fact, you and demigod each told me that I am not as “intelligent” as either of you. On several occasions. Actually though, I am very intelligent, and the way I look at it is that YOU are “no match” for me “in certain areas” either.

  55. Jo-Anne • June 10, 2009 @ 10:23 PM

“and I really dont believe for even a fraction of a second that you work anywhere near the police”…

yeah, Nance, that’s why you’ve for months and months continously thrown derrogatory police remarks my way, trying to get under my skin…

    yeah, right…

so, expose yourself as a liar…

  56. Nancy • June 10, 2009 @ 11:04 PM

    Nope, not lying.

    Getting under your skin….100%!

    HAHAHAHA!!

  57. Silvana • June 11, 2009 @ 1:05 AM

    Hi ladies,

GUESS what I never go for the juggler…it’s MORE your style ladies…especially Nancy & lily, you two should do tryouts for American Gladiators, what do you say?? I bet you would love hitting away at women in those tights and a gigantic Q-tip…I can see it NOW!!!..wow some trailer trash talk I see…your right Bradgelina is not the POINT?? my education does surpass YOU Incredibly though that’s obvious…that’s why your so intimidated from intelligent and strong women like myself and JoAnne…quite realistic and typical… unbelieveable how nieve you are?? I must say that trashing anyone’s career is REALLY LOW ball what’s wrong with being a police officer, it takes COURAGE, GUTS, and LOYALITY, obviously you two brats, know of no such thing…and Joanne it’s not worth anyone’s time to even be in the same room with the likes of these two…WOW!! how old are two…teenagers 15years old…Dawson’s Creek…it would appear that some people never get past young adolescence…geez…that’s unfortunate…imagine all this for a rich actress that see’s herself even better than Madonna…I thought I would share the latest ” STAR” news…are you ready ladies…can you HOLD on…does the anticipation kill you…gonnna wet your pants… Star magazine says here’s there quote “Angelina feels that Madonna is stealing her thunder and putting herself in the same league as Mrs. Smith is a BIG INSULT to Angelina…WOW…only SHE has the right to adopt a Malawian baby…RICH and ORIGINAL, don’t you think?? But you worshippers must just nod your heads like good old school girls and agree no doubt??? after all that’s how this whole blog started for me….LOVE IT!! I always love a GOOD challenge…it’s all FUN!! No ladies, really I happen to be a strong supporter of dynamic women and this whole blog started because I was facinated how someone with the likes of Angelina could surpass a brilliant and talented woman like Oprah…anyone up to trash Oprah…I think not??? unless you really have lost your scruples…that means brains…just for lily and Nancy…but it’s amusing to say the least how this experiment happened…I knew a good amount of caddy women would go for the juggler by testing the waters with this whole Angelina Brad and Jennifer triangle…GREAT publicity for these three and by the looks of it…it’s working for them brilliantly!! keep it up guys…it’s far better than seeing Brad in diapers and the Curious case of whatever…sleeper movie..

Alright ladies Cheerio and do try to be nice to one another…after all look at the GREAT Audrey Hepburn…good tip see Breakfast at Tiffany’s for a change or well that’s probably not your league of films Nancy& Lily…but if you want to see a fabulous woman/ actress and a super good humanitarium…she’s my HERO and a TRUE STAR…a classic…never goes out of style…
Adieu!! Au-revoir…that’s french for bye bye…

  58. Silvana • June 11, 2009 @ 1:17 AM

Oh PS one last thing….that liner I wrote and you commented on… wisdom comes with age…and I’m grossly FULL of myself was a REAL killer, yes confidence often gets misunderstood by arrogance and being self-centered, I just tried this out for the first time…and thanks for cutting me some slack…that was “ONE NICE THING YOU SAID…see there is HOPE OUT THERE”
    Cheers Silvana

  59. lily • June 11, 2009 @ 5:53 AM

Ok I need to go back and give huge presents to my high school English teachers cause they gave me a WAY better education then what passes for “a degree in communications”. Silvana told us TWICE that she doesn’t go for “the juggler”…does anyone else find this really, really funny???

  60. Nancy • June 11, 2009 @ 8:55 AM

Hahaha…she’s also been to that “humanitariuM” place again too. Oooops….I GUESS I should WRITE it THIS way SO Silvana CAN underSTAND it:

“Hahaha…SHE’S also BEEN to THAT humanITARIUM place AGAIN too.”

FOUS le CAMP, Silvana…that’s french for…:P

  61. Anon • June 11, 2009 @ 9:17 AM

    Silvana on June 11, 2009 1:05 AM

Oh come now Silvana, I for one don’t want to see you go so quickly. This is a site for sharing opinions on the topic at hand and each one of us has gotten sidetracked to sharing opinions of each other. Youve definitely ruffled some feathers here, as we all have. Though I dont particularly like your style one has to appreciate how boring conversations would be if we were all from the same breed with the same opinions.

  62. tributegirl • June 11, 2009 @ 8:31 PM

Well, Gina, there’s her “next post”, and it didn’t look any better than any of her others! I think she’s probably the most bizarre, obnoxious people we’ve had on here to date.
Jo-Anne? She keeps playing you up as if you & her are great friends on here, I’m curious what your opinion is of her. If you’re not comfortable saying, that’s fine, I’m just wondering.
lily & Nancy, LMAO!!! Loved your last comments!!!

  63. Carol • June 11, 2009 @ 9:43 PM

personally, I’m tired of Angelina and Brad. It’s like Benifer all over again. They are highly overrated.

  64. Jo-Anne • June 11, 2009 @ 10:20 PM

well, well, a big YAHOO for Carol – I actually AGREE wholeheartedly with your last comment here!!! just grand…

I welcome Silvana’s comments, t.g., don’t care about her spelling, etc., it’s not uncommon to see people in quite senior positions where English language is not strongest point…but I think you can always recognize their obvious attributes that contributed to them being in such a position…

that being said, the multitude of immature vulgarities and gutter talk spewed by Nance is not at all what I connect to a “class act” of any sort, that’s just in a word, trash …

I am interested when new people appear on here, still enjoy many of the regulars and although not always in agreement with every single comment some of the people I enjoy reading put out, appreciate they feel same about my posts so can overlook and still enjoy their remarks.

I think Silvana’s expressed herself the way she’s comfortable with, she’s not “into” a couple of your faves and that’s okay too…and for the record, I quite understand her not being “into” one of them (huge shock there I am sure ha ha)

we don’t always align ourselves with those who portray the same characteristics as ourselves….do we?

  65. Nancy • June 11, 2009 @ 10:30 PM

Shut up, Hagatha. You’re just as much “trash” as I am…except you smell worse, LMFAO!

  66. lily • June 12, 2009 @ 6:58 AM

Thanks tg, and I didn’t even comment on “I know a good amount of caddy women would go for the juggler”. I just thought Silvana not only hates me and Nancy but also despises females who carry golf clubs…or just thinks they lust for jugglers?
I think you nailed it with “bizarre and obnoxious” but in all fairness I think you have to add freaking hilarious!

  67. tributegirl • June 12, 2009 @ 5:24 PM

lily, I was wondering if maybe she goes for Batman instead? hahahahaha!
Thanks for the answer Jo, I didn’t really want to bring Nancy or anyone else into it, because we obviously have different opinions there, but that’s fine. But I didn’t mean Silvana’s spelling or grammar, she just sounds really, really obnoxious and dirty to me, and I was wondering what you thought of being attached to a person with those attributes.

  68. Silvana • June 12, 2009 @ 10:29 PM

Hi ladies..thanks for reaching out and asking me to still be part of the conversation..well some of you…

Though I clearly don’t fit in with the likes of certain people…Nancy & lily and Tribute Girl…I mean really Lily….you call me DIRTY…now that is obsurd…and clearly WRONG…but again not suprising since you sound so ridiculous and immature….

But again this type of engagement online
is new to me..and I don’t expect to see eye to eye with everyone…but it’s great that people like Joanne exist…thanks again and I wish you all the best in your life…you sound like a super person, smart, wise and sensible….above all a classy woman with ethics…unlike some of you…just trashy and young…

And I must agree with the one writer who commented on the news regarding Brad and Angelina is old and overdone…I agree…in reference to my typo error…..geez YES I’m human…that has no bearing on my education…grow up…but hey I guess that’s what makes certain women caddy and typical…It’s funny that not one of you mentioned anything regarding the comparison of Oprah…you see women mostly LOVE the energy of being on that show…yet to each other WHY are WOMEN so CRUEL?? I wonder if women ruled the world…would women make it a better place…I’m not really sure…

I find it amusing that certain women that are JEALOUS and VAIN always need to attack women rather than be a TEAM player…it’s funny because being a strong, assertive, and confident woman, I often get misunderstood and women either LOVE my energy or HATE it out of spite and jealousy…it’s typical…but luckily I have a strong solid base of BEST FRIENDS that know how loyal,fun-loving and a EASY-GOING person I am…I’m an Aries and I’m not a confrontational ram…I’m a loving playful one…I’m just always spunky and up to a challenge….life is boring if you never JAZZ it UP…and question things…

Anyhow ladies have a great weekend~~ try to be civilized and decent to one another…call me the older wiser soul…I’m here to join in and have some fun…Cheers Silvana

  69. tributegirl • June 12, 2009 @ 10:36 PM

Yeah, I don’t know why people like you “are JEALOUS and VAIN always need to attack women rather than be a TEAM player”. How lucky (not) for Jo that you like her! Sorry Jo, but I’m glad I’m not in your shoes right now!

  70. lily • June 12, 2009 @ 11:03 PM

‘try to be civilized and decent to one another’ but label all those who disagree with you ‘ridiculous’ ‘trashy’ ‘immature’…
Gosh silvana how ‘civilized and decent to one another’ can you get!
I’m with tributegirl and proud to beNOT on your friends list , although being ‘caddy’ and ‘going for the juggler’ makes me nervous… where oh where are we going to find a golf course complete with circus acts…

  71. Nancy • June 12, 2009 @ 11:16 PM

I know! I know! At Jo-Anne’s imaginary police department that she works at! Hahaha. 😛

  72. Anon • June 13, 2009 @ 12:00 AM

    Silvana on June 12, 2009 10:29 PM
Glad to see you’ve decided to stay. FYI…not jealous and appreciate strength in women; though I thought the comments that were specifically directed to some here were a little over the top. No big deal.

  73. Nancy • June 13, 2009 @ 12:26 PM

Oh Anon/Gina…please….enlighten us and please please tell us WHICH comments “were a little over the top”. Hmmmm….I’m guessing most of them have the name ‘Nancy’ on them????? 😛

  74. tributegirl • June 13, 2009 @ 4:17 PM

umm, Nancy, I think she actually meant some comments from Silvana! lol
Gina, I don’t see any “strength” in her comments, I just see an incredibly obnoxious person.

  75. Jo-Anne • June 13, 2009 @ 4:21 PM

t.g. do you mean I’m “attached” to Silvana the way you’re “attached” to Nancy”???

    is that your drift?

  76. Nancy • June 13, 2009 @ 4:48 PM

Well Jo-Anne, how PREDICTABLE an answer is that! LOL.

Tributegirl: Hahaha, I know. I’m just bugging. 😀

  77. tributegirl • June 13, 2009 @ 7:34 PM

Jo, I don’t know where that came from (your comment), but I think you misunderstood what I meant. I meant that Silvana, who I think is incredibly obnoxious, is trying to attach HERself TO you, not You attached to her.

  78. tributegirl • June 13, 2009 @ 7:36 PM

Also wondering what you meant by me being attached to Nancy? I still agree with most of her comments, but I have been trying for quite awhile now to get along with everyone.

  79. demigod • June 13, 2009 @ 8:18 PM

    tributegirl on June 13, 2009 7:36 PM

    Trying harder with her? 😉

  80. lily • June 13, 2009 @ 8:51 PM

Forgot to tell you, tg, that I loved your Batman comment a while back. If “The Juggler” is his next evil nemesis, I’m claiming commision!

  81. demigod • June 13, 2009 @ 9:16 PM

I never heard of ‘The Juggler’ ever being a villain. You may be confusing ‘The Riddler’?

  82. lily • June 13, 2009 @ 9:31 PM

Its a special character made up by Silvana, as when she says people on this site ‘go for the juggler’…I figured she hates circus folk but tributegirl’s Batman comment suggested that maybe Silvana is combining the riddler and the joker.
demigod, if you haven’t got it by now, we’re having a little fun here at her expense. I figure a university degree in communications means she can take a little joking about her communicating problems…

  83. lily • June 13, 2009 @ 9:35 PM

see Silvana 1:05 on this site if you still don’t get it

  84. Silvana • June 14, 2009 @ 4:18 AM

Excuse me ladies I’m back!!….did you Tribute Girl say you have been trying to get along with ALL you ladies…that’s BS…crap!! but hey it’s all about controversy right?? I guess you think I’m a weak link or something….but in fact I see your game….
By the way I do happen to LOVE the Circus…as a matter of fact I have seen 3 performances from Cirque du Soleil…great company from Montreal…beautiful city where I was born…a place where I find people are much more friendly than Toronto…more open and always ready for a good juicy converation, the French are always up to a GOOD SPAT..call it my Belgium roots, but I can be feisty when I’m in the mood… …and again I NEVER ATTACH MYSELF to ANYONE, I’m a FREE-SPIRITED LADY…that’s what being OPEN is all about…I just appreciate anyone who is REAL and is not afraid to speak their minds and not be afraid of being BURNT at the STAKE…but some of you ladies don’t let up…WOW…it must be FUN to just keep picking away…anyhow…I’m not choosing favorites..that again is too juvenile…I just like a person who is grounded and has ethics…as for this whole Batman and juggler thing?? wow…that’s again a LOWBALL remark…but again not suprising ladies….but don’t you have anything better to comment on??? I was hoping that the conversation would have shifted into something NEW, something interesting??? anything else to discuss…something more noteworthy???if not then time to move on….Take care ~~

  85. lily • June 14, 2009 @ 5:56 AM

ok ok Silvana, your right. That “juggler” stuff is so last week. I’m ready to move on…until your next “not suprising”, “juvenile”, “LOWBALL” comment rubs me the wrong way…

  86. demigod • June 14, 2009 @ 11:54 AM

    lily on June 13, 2009 9:31 PM

Lily, I did follow..I know she meant ‘jugular’, and that you’ve been running with it (and wiping the floor with her!)
Silvana, I can see you’ve been ill-received, coming thru here like a bulldozer, but that’s ok, you’ll find we’re a forgiving lot (until the next article)lol
Btw, I often visit Mtl and catch some Hab games. Love the city.

  87. lily • June 14, 2009 @ 12:42 PM

demigod I should have known I didn’t need to explain anything to you lol!
btw is this your kinder gentler side above?

  88. tributegirl • June 14, 2009 @ 12:57 PM

    Silvana on June 14, 2009 4:18 AM
    That entire comment is “BScrap!!”

lily & demigod, I was playing the “juggler” thing along with The Joker, actually, but The Riddler probably fits better!

  89. Silvana • June 14, 2009 @ 1:27 PM

Awesome!!! I’m a BIG HABS fan…but hey…I’m glad the Pittsburg Penguins won the Stanley CUP….I love it when the underdog wins…plus the owner of the club is from Montreal…Mario Lemiuex is a REAL hottie!! so distinguished and such a lovable man….you can see his admiration for his team….plus his parents still live in the same home they grew up in in Ville Emard…in Montreal…okay ladies Cheers and have a great weekend!!!

  90. demigod • June 14, 2009 @ 3:27 PM

    lily on June 14, 2009 12:42 PM

Well, I TRY keeping up with all these posts..

    Silvana on June 14, 2009 1:27 PM

Hab fan here since like..12. They’ve been riddled with injuries this year, after a great start. I like the Pens too. Them winning it was payback from last year! I always felt Mario shoulda been a Hab. Quebecers are THE best players in the league.

  92. Isabella • June 14, 2009 @ 4:48 PM

    Silvana,
Why are you trying so hard to pretend you ar all classy and educated?
You are not, so why all the pretense? The fake part about you trying to conduct an experiment? I think it is time you look in the mirror and realize, you have no life, and you get on these websites just to find people that may not see all of your craziness for what it really is…sheer posturing, 500%pretentiousness. You try so hard by writing positive things about Oprah, you are just desperate. So buzz off and find yourself something to do, take up knitting.

  93. Nancy • June 14, 2009 @ 5:32 PM

Silvana: Maybe you find people in Montreal “much more friendly” than people from Toronto because other frenchmen can understand what the hell you are saying! I bet you agree with Quebec separating too, don’t you? Well, so do I…all the people can pack their suitcases and “separate” all they want BUT the land is CANADIAN!! 😀

  94. Jo-Anne • June 14, 2009 @ 7:10 PM

Isabella, why are you so threatened by Silvana’s posts? Sure, you disagree…big deal.

here spelling “error” has been repeated ad nauseum on here, particularly in view of the many, many, many typos, errors, bad grammar, and straight up poorly worded posts. Get over it already…

To isolate Silvana as the “sole” party who needs to get a life is not only tremendously inaccurate but highly pretentious on your part who apparently posted on here for the sole purpose of talking down to her….

p.s. curious….are you knitting as you read this?

  95. Silvana • June 15, 2009 @ 8:37 AM

Hello ladies~~ Again….it’s amazing when people get threatned by confidence…thanks for that post Joanne, I knew a smart woman like yourself could relate to my way of thinking…imagaine…I’m not pretending to be anything?? do I think I’m a classy lady, as a matter of fact yes I am, but I’m not a prude either….and by the way I’ve been living in Toronto for 5 years and I live in the Annex…one of the best areas of the city….so Isabella….I think you need to start taking up a hobby other than reading STAR Magazine or People, more importantly stop bashing people on blogs that is??….and as for politics…I’m not strictly a Quebecer fan…that’s why I moved here..there are so many great things about this city, the St. Lawrence Market and the vibe on Front Street, the beaches, CN Tower with those wicked lights from France..the Harbourfront, Centre Island, College St, Kensington Market…and loads of other things.

I happen to have a passion for travelling and visiting world class cities that I have visited and would MOVE in a heartbeat…New York, London, England, Paris, Rome, Barcelona…there is so much beauty out there…and I just happen to appreciate fine things in life…but I’m also a level headed person who can just take off to the country and stay a week in a cabin and just read a good book or go on a nice hike….so again I guess it’s time to just say Cheerio to those haters out there….Thanks to some ladies on this blog for listening and not judging…and for those who are sun lovers like myself have a great day!!
    Cheers~~

  96. Nancy • June 15, 2009 @ 9:41 AM

Sure Silvana…and I’m sole heir to Queen Elizabeth’s throne, hahahaha!

  97. Jo-Anne • June 15, 2009 @ 1:50 PM

    Hello Silvana!

interesting post…totally relate to your passion for travel. Having lived in Europe myself and visited England, Italy (both wonderful memorable countries) along with trips to a number of other locales, my wish is I will get the opportunity to experience a whole lot more travel over the years….always so exciting to venture to unknown destinations…

Have been to Quebec and Montreal many times over the years, both for personal travel and son’s hockey, always look forward to our visits there.

I worked in T.O. for a number of years and the St. Lawrence Market was a frequent stop for me. I plan to get down there again in the next month, great spot.

I am a “warm weather” lover myself and hope (that’s a big HOPE!) one day to retire in a sunny area close to the ocean…keep your fingers (and toes!!) crossed for me…

  98. tributegirl • June 15, 2009 @ 3:22 PM

“its amazing when people get threatned by confidence” HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA LMAO!!!!! Oh, that was funny!!! Phew, thanks for the laugh!
Oh wait, here’s another that’s good for a laugh:
“do I think Im a classy lady, as a matter of fact yes I am” HAHAHAHAHA, Where do you come up with this stuff?

  99. Velvet • June 15, 2009 @ 6:39 PM

Wow! I don’t have the time to read every comment posted here, but from what I’ve read (maybe one quarter of it), has had me laughing until my cheeks now hurt.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, are they not? You can either agree or agree to disagree. It’s okay — really!

If we continue to purchase entertainment magazines and/or tabloid magazines (which I don’t and haven’t since the death of Princess Diana), then the cycle of lies about celebrities to sell magazines/tabloids and make money from us will continue.

Celebrities are human beings and I think it’s easy to forget this because of all the glamour, money and fame they encompass. I’m not on the side of Angelina, Brad or Jennifer. They all appear to have moved on, why can’t others? It’s so tired already.

Anybody who has ever been married before knows that it takes two people to make a marriage work. I’ve never been married but my friends and family members have shared many a story about the complexity and difficulty of marriage.

So for all the “Team Angelina”, “Team Brad” or “Team Jennifer” out there, the only people who know the “truth” about what happened is the parties involved. Anything we “know” about it has been spin from the powers that be who are desperate to sell magazines and take a lot of money from our hard earned pockets.

If people stopped buying the magazines/tabloids, then the madness would stop and they would have to find something else better or more important to write about. Keeping the masses entertained means our focus is dovetailed from what really matters (i.e. the Iraq war, the economy, gun crime, school crime, child abduction, world hunger, violence, genocide, AIDS, and the list goes on and on).

But I must say thank you for the laughter because I never take anything said in these blogs seriously. It’s a wonderful way to “blow off steam” when you’ve had a stressful day, just so long as personal attacks are at bay.

Peace out and be kind to one another.

  100. lily • June 15, 2009 @ 7:01 PM

“If people stopped buying the magazines/tabloids,then the madness would stop and they would have to find something else better or more important to write about.”

Well Velvet (6:39) what the heck are you doing reading a website like this, besides encouraging the Tribute people who do NOTHING BUT write about celebrities? Oh yeah, you said “it’s a wonderful way to blow off steam”. You mean its relaxing? Entertaining? Fun even? If you’ve been “laughing till your cheeks hurt”, maybe even LOTS of fun?

The only “madness” I see here is people spouting off judgements about how superior their tastes are, only to contradict themselves clearly, directly and repeatedly in the same article.

And “peace out” to you too.

  101. Silvana • June 16, 2009 @ 9:21 AM

Hello ladies….I agree with Velvet’s comments and yes I admit the paparrazzi and the media blitz today that we see in magazines is staggering and quite “out of control”…for myself personally I was saddened by Britney’s breakdown in the public eye…it’s never easy going through a difficult period in your life and feeling hopeless and isolated…I know that feeling I was lucky to have been striken with a health issue and had my wonderful husband and soulmate beside me…so Velvet….this is right too you…NOTHING MEANS MORE IN LIFE than LOVE and BEING LOVED, TRULY, MADLY & DEEPLY…when money and greed take over…so does a life of emptiness and loneliness…so BALANCE is key…and again refreshing to have shared other interests with women like Joanne who are worldly women who appreciate the good things in life…and that’s not from a DOLLAR$$ point of view….Joanne if ever you want to grab a drink or coffee in the city I’m open to hooking up.. anytime~~ Cheers ladies have fun 🙂
