Original Bionic Woman sounds off on new show

Lindsay WagnerLindsay Wagner, who played Jaime Sommers in the original 1970s Bionic Woman TV series, says the new Bionic Woman series, starring British actress Michelle Ryan, is very different from the one she starred in. “It’s very much like what shows are today—kind of dark and broody and violent. It’s not at all what we were doing,” explains Wagner. “We were doing a show for kids intentionally and making it fun in such a way that adults could enjoy it too.”

I say she’s just jealous the old show was lame, and she knows it, the new one however is interesting. I really don’t think the show would be on for long if it was for children, NO ONE WOULD WATCH IT!

I’d better too if I turned into a crone like she did.

Lindsay is absolutely right ! She is not an old crone, you moronic twit ! By the way learn some grammar ! Oh sorry you corrected yourself, must have performed a grammar check on your computer, idiot. The new show has no charisma, not for adults, nor kids.

I agree with MG, Lindsay is right. She was excellent and for the times, the show was terrific and fun and very family oriented. It would not likely hold up today in the same way, but it was a great show and she is right. The show now is lacking in just about every facet of a good show: acting, writing, and likability. I wanted to like it, but it’s just no good.

I also tried to like it but there is to much violence. Don’t get me wrong, love the fighting but the story lines are terrible. They seem to fight just to show off the bionics, maybe the writers should watch the old shows and find a happy medium

Wagner’s version of Bionic Woman was excellent when it first aired. Going back and watching episodes now, sure they look dated, but all shows from previous eras do. The new version – I wanted to enjoy it – but after 3 episodes of not being able to connect with any of the characters I had to stop watching. I’d watch the original series over the new one anyday!!!!

Lindsay Wagner a crone? What an idiot. For a woman thats close to if not 60 she looks fantastic. The comments on the show are bang on.

I have to say, I was surprised that the initial comments assumed that Lindsay Wagner was putting down the new series. She simply stated that it is different than the version she made in the ’70s. I watched the original regularly as a child and often played “Bionic Woman” with my friends. It truly was a show that the whole family could enjoy. I have not been able to get into the new series, so can’t comment on its format or focus.

Lindsay is absolutely right. I liked the new Bionic Woman the first time I saw it…when it was called “Alias”.

It’s funny the comments posted here about the actress Lindsay Wagner.
Much like the Mission Impossible film franchise, the new Bionic Woman show has nothing on the original. Funny how no one refers to William Shatner as a ‘gummer’ or ‘old man’ when he states his opinions. But a woman?? Its s shame really.
The original was lighter fare by today’s standards but it eclipsed the Charlie’s Angels jiggle hour.
As for Lindsays looks–she was the woman who made people take greater notice is the ‘nice girl next door’, and she was an athlete.
Sexism , like racism, should not be tolerated.
For those of you under 25, do you think of you own mothers at ‘hags’ or ‘crones’?

Old show was much better. Don’t like the new one at all.

Lindsay Wagner is still beautiful in her mid-60s. Old Crone? The d-bag who said that should only hope that he or his girlfriend looks HALF as good when they turn 45.

Lindsay was actually being very polite in her response. She actually thought the new show completely sucked, but was using tact and diplomacy.

She, like most of the rest of America, realized that a show can only succeed if it has a good story at its root. Kenneth Johnson, the creator of the original Bionic Woman and Incredible Hulk, was a good story teller. What 1970s tv lacked in special effects it made up for in the story-telling and character interactions. The original had heart and warmth, the main reason viewers kept coming back. V

ery cool modern special effects wont save a lackluster turd, and that is what the new show was.
