Orphan Black wins 7 Canadian Screen Awards on second night

The cast of Orphan BlackOn the second night of the 2017 Canadian Screen Awards, 42 awards were given out in creative fiction programming categories, including seven to the Canadian sci-fi series Orphan Black (pictured above) which stars Tatiana Maslany. The popular CBC series Murdoch Mysteries won four awards for its Christmas episode, A Very Merry Murdoch Christmas. Both series are nominated for many more awards over the course of the next few nights, including the Broadcast Gala on Sunday, March 12, which will be broadcast live on CBC beginning at 8 p.m. (9 AT/9:30 NT) and hosted by Howie Mandel.

Last night’s gala was hosted by Seán Cullen at the Westin Harbour Castle, Toronto. Tonight the Academy will hold their first ever Digital Gala celebrating outstanding storytelling, new technology, and marketing innovation. ~Alexandra Heilbron
