Charmed actress Rose McGowan has reportedly split with director Robert Rodriguez, who left his wife and children to be with her — because of financial difficulties on their upcoming film Barbarella, a remake of the 1968 cult classic starring Jane Fonda. McGowan was supposed to star in the film, but she wasn’t considered to be a big enough star by studio bosses. Rodriguez and McGowan met and began an affair when he directed her in Grindhouse (2007), but the film grossed a paltry $25.4 million. Universal was planning to completely axe Barbarella because Rodriguez wanted his girlfriend to star. Now that the situation is out of his hands, McGowan must have seen no further use for him. Rodriguez and his ex-wife, Elizabeth, have five children under the age of 12.
