Passchendaele big winner at Genies

null was the big winner at the Genie Awards on Saturday night, taking home six awards including best picture.  Producer Francis Damberger accepted the award on behalf of director / star / screenwriter Paul Gross, who was in Los Angeles. Damberger said, “I’d like to thank Paul Gross for being the driving force behind this film. I’d like to thank him for his vision and his comradeship. I dedicate this moment to the Canadian forces past and present and all the sacrifice they have made for us in the name of freedom.” American actress Ellen Burstyn took home best actress honors for her work in The Stone Angel. Best actor was Natar Ungalaaq for the French language film Ce Qu’il Faut Pour Vivre (The Necessities of Life), which won four awards in total. Callum Keith Rennie won best supporting actor for Normal, while Kristin Booth won best supporting actress for Young People F***ing. Click here for a full list of winners. ~movie_alex

    The Stone Angel, on the other hand, for sure…
