Patrick Stewart accidentally outed by newspaper

Following Ellen Page‘s coming out last week at an LGBT youth event, the British newspaper The Guardian ran a story in which they identified Patrick Stewart as being gay. The article read: “Some gay people, such as Sir Patrick Stewart, think Page’s coming out speech is newsworthy.” However, this is far from the truth – the X-Men actor married girlfriend Sunny Ozell last September. Stewart responded to the false claims in a series of hilarious tweets, with one of them saying: “Well, @guardian it makes for a nice change…at least I didn’t wake up to the internet telling me I was dead again.” The actor took the situation lightly and jokingly said, “Silly @guardian. You can’t catch gay by hanging out with #LGBT people.” The British paper issued a correction soon after: “This should have read ‘Some people, such as Sir Patrick Stewart, think Page’s coming out speech is newsworthy.'” The article has since been corrected online. ~Yara Matar
