Paul Bettany confirmed for The Avengers

Paul Bettany has just been confirmed to reprise his voice role of J.A.R.V.I.S., Tony Stark/Iron Man’s digital butler, in The Avengers. Because his role consists of recording his voice, he literally doesn’t know whether he’s going to be in the movie until post production. Bettany told The Daily Blam!: “I get called up about a day before it gets released and they say ‘Hey man, we’ve sort of forgot about J.A.R.V.I.S., should we go and record something?’ I go into a recording studio for about an hour and I do my stuff and they write me a check and I go home. This is pretty much the way it always goes… I never get the call until literally about a month or two before the movie comes out, and then they bring me in once everything else is done. I’m literally the last person hired. It’s exactly like voicing animation, except I don’t even have to sync to anything. It’s the easiest gig in the world.” Marvel’s The Avengers opens May 4, 2012.
