People’s Choice Awards kick off Hollywood award season

Many of the biggest stars in Hollywood will come together tonight (January 6) for the 36th Annual People’s Choice Awards, hosted by Queen Latifah at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. Producers say a record 60 million-plus fan votes have been counted. Among the celebs confirmed to attend are Twilight‘s Kellan Lutz and Taylor Lautner, Taylor Swift, Hugh Jackman, null, Ryan Reynolds and Carrie Underwood. The Twilight Saga: New Moon and The Proposal each earned six nominations and are up against each other for Favorite Movie, a category which pits them against The Hangover, Star Trek and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. In what should be an interesting race, Adam Lambert, Kris Allen, Susan Boyle, Lady Gaga and Disney star Demi Lovato will vie for Breakout Music Artist. The show airs live on CBS. ~Alexandra Heilbron
