People’s Choice Awards taped

People’s Choice AwardsTo get around the writer’s strike, the People’s Choice Awards scrapped the glitzy ceremony and opted to interview individual winners in taped segments, broadcast last night on television. Winners included Drew Barrymore, Joaquin Phoenix, Katherine Heigl, Chandra Wilson and Patrick Dempsey of Grey’s Anatomy, Reese Witherspoon, Keira Knightley, Matt Damon and Johnny Depp. Movie winners included Shrek the Third, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, Knocked Up, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Becoming Jane and The Bourne Ultimatum.

    Back next year and there will be more shows than even now, with awards for the stupidest things. Pretty soon we’ll be seeing awards for:

    1. Biggest “Fall from grace”
    2. Most successful rehab story
    3. Greatest celebrity car chases
    4. Best DUI mug shot

    And let’s not forget the jail time achievement award for the celebrity who managed to actually serve their time.
