Philip Seymour Hoffman, who was previously linked to the role of Plutarch Heavensbee in the sequel to Suzanne CollinsThe Hunger Games, has now reportedly committed to the character. An insider for E! Online claims that the deal was settled “right before the Fourth of July holiday” and that an official announcement is imminent. If true, Hoffman will join a cast that includes Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth and more in the anticipated follow-up, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, based on the second entry in Collins’ trilogy. His character will replace Wes Bentley‘s Seneca Crane as the Gamemaker. Francis Lawrence of I Am Legend fame will take over directorial duties from Gary Ross. The film goes to cameras this autumn and is currently slated for release on November 22, 2013. ~Devin Garabedian
