Although she is not a predominant figure in the book, Arwen's (Liv Tyler) character was greatly expanded for the films. When we first meet her, she braves a confrontation with the Ringwraiths to deliver a dying Frodo to Rivendell. Her deep love for Aragorn helps him become the king he was always meant to be.
