Thorin Oakenshield

Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage) is the son of Thrain and the steadfast, outspoken leader of the 13 dwarves. Thorin cut off Azog's arm after the leader of the Orc army beheaded his grandfather, King Thror, during the Battle of Azanulbizar. During the battle he used the branch of an oak tree as a shield, which is how he earned the name Oakenshield. Thorin’s father Thrain disappeared in grief after his father was murdered, leaving Thorin as King-in-Exile.
