British-born Matthew Garber has only three credits to his name—all Walt Disney feature films. His first was The Three Lives of Thomasina starring Karen Dotrice, who would go on to play his sister in Mary Poppins. His last film was the 1967 feature The Gnome-Mobile, in which he was again paired with Karen Dotrice. After that, at the age of 11, he happily retired from show business. In 1976, Matthew was travelling in India and contracted hepatitis. His family brought him home but there was damage to his pancreas. On June 13, 1977, he died at age 21 from pancreatitus. His family made it clear his death was from eating bad meat in India, not from drug use.
