L.A. Confidential (1997)

Lynn Bracken (Kim Basinger) - This well-crafted drama comes to a close as Lynn bids farewell to Detective Lieutenant Exley (Guy Pearce) as she prepares to drive away to Bisbee, Arizona with Officer White (Russell Crowe). Lynn and Exley share a look of longing that both warms and saddens the viewer, and it's clear that Exley yearns to be the man leaving with her. She recognizes this, and to soften the blow of their departure, she demeans herself by saying, "Some men get the world. Others get the ex-hookers and a trip to Arizona." Absolutely Oscar-worthy.
