Josh Trank’s Boba Fett and Venom Movies

Much like Neill Blomkamp, director Josh Trank instantly became a hot commodity following the release of his breakout film Chronicle. The film's critical response and financial success landed the director a slew of projects from various studios, with the first being Fox’s Fantastic Four reboot, as well as Sony's planned Venom solo film, and finally a Boba Fett anthology spin-off film for Disney and Lucasfilm. Sadly, Trank's fallout with Fox over the creative direction of Fantastic Four soured opinions on the director and the film's poor reception would only further hurt his future projects. Venom would languish in development hell until it was passed on to Ruben Fleischer, and the Boba Fett anthology film was put on indefinite hold as Disney faced oversaturation of Star Wars media. While a Boba Fett solo film never materialized, the character would make his return in the second season of the Disney+ series The Mandalorian
