Officially called the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Benefit, the Met Gala attracts the biggest and boldest names in fashion every May. Dubbed “the party of the year” and “the Oscars of the East Coast” among other terms, the event regularly features about 600 guests, with tickets selling for roughly $30,000. Each year’s event adopts a creative and unique theme, with past ones including China: Through the Looking Glass, Punk: Chaos to Couture and Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy.
