Best Director – Clint Eastwood (Sully)

The second snub for Sully came when director Clint Eastwood was left off the list in the Best Director category. The actor and filmmaker has proven his directing abilities several times — he took both Best Director and Best Picture Oscars for 1993's Unforgiven, and then again in 2005 for Million Dollar Baby — but the Academy sank his hopes of repeating that glory with Sully by ignoring the drama in all but one category.
