The Shape of Water

Guillermo del Toro's whimsical fairy tale tells the story of a mute woman, played by Sally Hawkins, who falls in love with a sea creature. This haunting sci-fi love story with classic monster movie influences is one of del Toro's most highly praised films. It leads the Oscar race with 13 nods, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress (Sally Hawkins), Best Supporting Actor (Richard Jenkins) and Best Supporting Actress (Octavia Spencer). The Shape of Water earned del Toro a Golden Globe Award for Best Director and also scored Best Picture and Best Director trophies at the Critics Choice Awards. It's got a 92 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a very strong likelihood of winning the Oscar gold trophies for Best Picture and Best Director.
