Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings

The last time the Marvel Cinematic Universe went a year without releasing a new film was all the way back in 2009, an odd gap year between 2008's Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk and 2010's Iron Man 2. Thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic, Marvel had to repeatedly delay their 2020 slate of films, highlighted by the long-awaited solo outing for Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow. While audiences will undoubtedly be anticipating that film's release, the MCU will also introduce audiences to an entirely new character in the form of Shang-Chi in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, who will be played by Kim's Convenience star Simu Liu. As the MCU's first entry to be led by a hero of Asian descent, there will be high expectations for this film as it looks to do for Asian representation what Black Panther did for Black representation.
