Daniel Day-Lewis – Abraham Lincoln

Would you believe Liam Neeson was first offered the role of Abraham Lincoln in the biopic Lincoln? It’s now impossible to imagine anyone else as the historic president because Daniel Day-Lewis did such a tremendous job playing him. In preparation for the role, he studied Lincoln’s handwriting and read several biographies about the man, while also using photographs of him taken later in his life to encompass his being. Day-Lewis told The New York Times that he “looked at them the way you sometimes look at your own reflection in a mirror and wonder who that person is looking back at you.” A fascinating process for an incredible performance.
