Trumping Amy Adam’s six Oscar losses is veteran actress Glenn Close, with seven. It’s surprising really, and an addition that might not have happened if not for last year’s upset in the Best Actress category. Glenn Close had been a heavy favorite to land her first Oscar in 2019 for The Wife, but lost to Olivia Colman’s performance in The Favourite. Prior to that, Glenn Close missed out with her Oscar nominations for The World According to Garp, The Big Chill, The Natural, Fatal Attraction, Dangerous Liaisons and Albert Nobbs, losing to Jessica Lange in Tootsie, Linda Hunt in The Year of Living Dangerously, Peggy Ashcroft in A Passage to India, Cher in Moonstruck, Jodie Foster in The Accused, and Meryl Streep in The Iron Lady respectively.
