The Dark Knight himself had an opportunity to play James Bond in a major Hollywood franchise. Before Daniel Craig was offered the role, Christian Bale was approached. He turned it down. Bale’s former publicist said the actor wasn’t interested in “being committed to a franchise that was very British.”
