Gary Oldman – Darkest Hour

For his role as Winston Churchill in Darkest Hour, Gary Oldman decided he didn't want to "gain pounds and mess with my heart and my liver." Instead, he asked for famed makeup designer and artist Kazuhiro Tsuji to come out of retirement to do the transformation. Gary's cheeks, jowls, neck and chin were prosthetics, and he shaved his head so that a wig could be placed in order to get the exact hairline. Makeup was used to create the pink, blotchy complexion. Both the makeup team and Gary won Academy Awards for the film.
