Um for the first one The Terminator (1984) that technically does happen
because in Terminator 2 they have the damaged CPU and the right arm of the previous Terminator. Miles Dyson is pretty much heading up the “R&D” on the project that reverse engineered the chip which in turn creates Skynet. Personally I don’t think you would need a scene with “scientists investigating the scene a and They say they’ll send the chip to “R&D”…” because how else would Cyberdyne get the Arm and chip seen in T2? they are probably there collecting it off screen? Also if you were to take Terminator 2 out of the equation completely its common sense that it would be found. The police would notify the Feds and the Feds would come in and collect the evidence and they would give it to Cyberdyne who at that point had the military contract to develop systems for them.
I mean its not really an Alternate Ending if it is basically implied that is what
happens. just because you don’t see it on screen doesn’t mean it didn’t happen.
