Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991)

It's hard to believe, but director James Cameron filmed an alternate ending to what I think is the best sequel in cinema, Terminator 2: Judgment Day. Instead of the epically symbolic and simplified ending of traveling down a road while Sarah Connor's (Linda Hamilton) voiceover muses about the potential future of the human race, we almost had her sitting on a bench in the future on a Judgment Day that never happened, talking about how all is right with the world and that her son, John, is a Senator. Ugh, boooooring...
