Mad Max: Fury Road (2015)

The only Oscar nominee for Best Picture on this list and for good reason, George Miller’s long-awaited return to this Mad Max series of films was quite the visceral experience when it hit theaters. Ostensibly an extended chase sequence, Mad Max: Fury Road is great combination of visual and practical effects with a vibrant color palette for a post-apocalyptic film. Throw in understated and nuanced performances by Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron, as well as a rocking score by Junkie XL and you have one of the most riveting two hours in cinema.
