The Raid: Redemption (2011) / The Raid 2: Berandal (2014)

The film franchise that launched the craze into the Indonesian action scene, Gareth Evans’ The Raid films left a big impression on the action genre. From their gritty tone to the astoundingly complex and visually beautiful fight choreography, Evans’ two Raid films were nothing short of pure action bliss and a knockout introduction to Indonesian action star Iko Uwais. Though a third entry to wrap up the series has been shelved, what Evans has already delivered are two of the greatest action movies of not just this decade, but also all-time.
