Best Original Score: The Social Network (2011)

Like most things, musical taste is subjective and it all comes down to personal taste. That being said, this past decade’s winners for original score each delivered something unique, from classic looks at various periods in time. From Ludwig Goransson’s hip-hop infusion in Black Panther to Justin Hurwitz’s love letter of classic musicals with La La Land to the uplifting and the adventurous whimsy of Michael Giacchino’s score for Up, each had audiences humming along. However, no score broke more convention than Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross’s masterful score for The Social Network. Quite simply, nothing like it had ever been heard before and every theme composed by the duo simply electrified their respective theme, accentuating and elevating every image on screen.
