American Beauty

At the 2000 Oscars ceremony, Sam Mendes' drama American Beauty won five awards. Kevin Spacey nabbed the Best Actor prize, Sam picked up top honors in the directing category, and among other victories, the film triumphed over The Cider House Rules, The Green Mile, The Insider and The Sixth Sense for the coveted Best Picture trophy. There's so much beauty in the film, sometimes we feel like we can't take it.
