Meryl Streep as Margaret Thatcher

Marvelous Meryl Streep won her third Oscar in 2012 for portraying pioneer and former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in The Iron Lady. Pegged by many as the greatest living actress, Meryl breathed humility and fragility into Thatcher, who led the U.K. from 1979-1990 and was known for her hard-nosed, controversial opinions and conservative ideals.
