Welcome to Marwen

Oscar-winning director Robert Zemeckis’ latest effort didn’t go over too well with either critics or audiences, resulting in a disappointing box office performance. Despite coming out during the holidays and starring Steve Carell, the film simply didn’t do any business. Welcome to Marwen debuted at ninth in its opening weekend with just over $2.3 million. The film would eventually be pulled after four weeks to finish with a grand total of just over $10.7 million domestically and an additional $2 million overseas, against its reported production budget of $39 million.

Surprised that the Overlord review failed to mention the “by far” main reason why the movie failed. It had great potential to be a fiction/drama WW2 story, but the moment it turned from a WW2-story movie, to a absolutely stupid Zombie flick, took it from a 7.5/10 to a 1.5/10. What where they thinking?….

The main reason why this failed is the futile attempt to duplicate the story line and drama of the Hunt For Red October – which, as anyone knows, is untouchable.
Corny / stupid acted outcomes to realistic baseline events had everyone with a brain just shaking their heads. No surprise it failed.
