Carrie Fisher hired to play Princess Leia in Star Wars

As the offspring of Hollywood royalty — Oscar-nominee Debbie Reynolds and Golden Globe winner Eddie Fisher — Carrie Fisher seemed destined to play the role of Princess Leia in the first Star Wars movie, which was released in 1977. Although she only had one small role in a movie on her resumé at the time, Carrie, just 19 when filming began, performed the role of the strong young royal to perfection.

She was an amazing person, slim and pretty. But life was never kind to her, drugs and mental illness changed her.

I still saw a person who made Star Wars a reality of fiction, in action figures and make believe.

I watched, and rewatched these movies over and over again. I enjoyed Carrie’s role as Leia, we all wanted to be her.

The Reprisal roles of her in Star Wars: Force awakens (I watched) and a new one coming out in 2017 will be a memory (keep sake).

But the true likeness of Carrie can never be replaced and I hope Star Wars can create a memoir of her character in future movies. 😢
