Leif Garrett

Leif Garrett and his younger sister Dawn Lyn took on different last names so as not to identify with their absent father. Their single mother put both of them in show business to earn a living for the family. After five years of guest appearances on TV series, and roles in feature films such as the Walking Tall series of movies (see above, alongside his sister), Leif was cast in the adventure drama series Three For the Road alongside fellow future teen idol Vincent Van Patten as his older brother. The show made Leif, 13 at the time, a popular face in teen magazines. When it concluded, he continued to make guest appearances and also starred in TV movies such as Peter Lundy and the Medicine Hat Stallion in 1978. However, by the time he was 15, his handlers decided he should be a pop star and had him record albums/go on concert tours, which led to a serious, long-term drug addiction. He has been in numerous rehab programs over the years and appeared on Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew in 2010.
