A frightening, formidable and fanged figure, the Basilisk in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is a giant green serpent with haunting yellow eyes. Its venom is highly poisonous, it possesses great strength and an unquenchable thirst for blood, and it dwells in the Chamber of Secrets at Hogwarts. It's controlled by the heir of Slytherin, Tom Riddle (a.k.a. Lord Voldemort, a.k.a. He Who Must Not Be Named) and poses the largest threat to young Harry in the second installment of the treasured series.
