Lars Von Trier

While conducting a press conference at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival to promote his film, Melancholia, Danish director Lars Von Trier answered a question regarding his interest in the “Nazi aesthetic” and his German roots. Over the course of Von Trier’s stammered and stumbling ramblings, the director managed to identify himself as a Nazi and claimed his sympathy for Hitler. As a result of his comments, the director was declared persona non grata at the festival.
