Canadian-born actor Lyman Ward already had a long list of acting credits to his name when he joined the cast of Ferris Bueller's Day Off to play Ferris's dad, Tom. Since the film's 1986 release, Lyman continued his acting career on the small screen with guest roles on popular shows such as Family Ties, Matlock, The Wonder Years and Melrose Place. He appeared in some hit films as well in the '90s, including The Beverly Hillbillies (1993) and Independence Day (1996). More recently, he played a recurring role on the CBS TV series First Monday as Justice Brian Chandler. In terms of interesting tidbits from his personal life, Lyman divorced his second wife after meeting and falling in love with Cindy Pickett who played his on-screen wife in Ferris Bueller's Day Off. He and Cindy married in 1986, but divorced in 1992 after having two children.
