The height of the zombie craze saw Hollywood and television attempt to find every conceivable vehicle to tell a zombie story, leading to this unusual rom-com. Director Jonathan Levine was no stranger to breaking genre conventions after working on movies such as All the Boys Love Mandy Lane and 50/50, but Warm Bodies provided a new challenge for him, given all the established lore surrounding zombies across all forms of media. Thankfully he wasn't alone in this, as he had Isaac Marion's novel to work from, creating a uniquely sweet and charming rom-com, set in a post-apocalyptic zombie-infested world.
