She was first recognized in 1979 for her performance in The Deer Hunter and nearly 40 years later, earned her 20th nod for Florence Foster Jenkins. To put her remarkable tally in perspective, Meryl's closest competitors are Jack Nicholson and the late Katharine Hepburn, both with 12 nominations.
