Most wins without winning Best Picture

Bob Fosse's musical Cabaret danced away from the 1973 Oscars with eight golden statuettes including Best Actress (Liza Minnelli) and Best Supporting Actor (Joel Grey). Pretty impressive, right? What really made the film stand out, though, was its loss to The Godfather in the Best Picture race. By falling to Francis Ford Coppola's crime drama, Cabaret became — and remains — the film with the most Oscar wins without winning Best Picture.
