Oldest nominee in an acting category

Best known for her role as the older Rose DeWitt Bukater in James Cameron's Titanic, Gloria Stuart holds the honor of being the oldest nominee for an acting Academy Award. At the age of 87, she was nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the 1998 Academy Awards for her role in Titanic. Born in 1910, she was the only cast member of the film who was alive during the actual sinking of the Titanic in 1912. She passed away at the age of 100 in 2010, which is the same age as her character Rose.
