First animated film to be nominated for Best Picture

Disney's enchanting, musical fairy tale Beauty and the Beast set a precedent for animated films to be regarded with just as much respect as live-action movies. The film was the first of its kind to be nominated for the prestigious Best Picture award at the 1992 Oscars ceremony. Later films that achieved the same feat include Up (2010) and Toy Story 3 (2011), both of which are also from Disney.
