In August of 1999, millions of moviegoers were left with mouths open after seeing M. Night Shyamalan’s horror thriller, and very rightly so. Practically no one saw this ending coming. And if you don’t know what we’re talking about -- how’s that rock you’ve been living under? Dr. Malcolm Crowe (Bruce Willis), a child psychologist, is confronted with a very difficult case when he meets nine-year-old Cole Sear (Haley Joel Osment). Cole isn’t like other kids -- he can see dead people. The two become fast friends, as Malcolm helps Cole and his mother (Toni Collette) come to terms with his unusual gift. But as the movie comes to a close, and in what would become one of the most shocking fake-outs in movie history, we discover that Malcolm has been dead the WHOLE TIME and is actually a ghost himself. Mind. Blown.
