Thomas J. Sennett in My Girl (1991)

When a movie decides to kill off a 10-year-old Macaulay Culkin, the Golden Child of the early ‘90s, you know they mean business. It starts out innocently enough – the precocious heroine Vada (Anna Chlumsky) and her longtime pal Thomas J. (Culkin) share a chaste first kiss under a tree. You’re thinking, Could this get any cuter? It doesn’t. When the pair come across a bee hive hanging from the tree, Thomas J., being the dumb fifth-grade boy he is, decides to knock it down. Spoiler: Bees don’t like that. And little does Thomas J. know, he’s deathly allergic to bee stings. Have your Kleenex ready for this one, folks.
