Most people are shocked when they discover that Gary Oldman has never won an Oscar. Nope, not for his turn as the destructive and doomed Sid Vicious in Sid and Nancy. Not as the sexy/scary Dracula in Bram Stoker’s Dracula. What about sadistic and twitchy mobster Norman in Leon: The Professional? Nada. His portrayal of Beethoven in Immortal Beloved was a fleck of dust in the wind. Not even for The Fifth Element. The actor is consistently lauded as one of the greatest and most versatile actors of our generation, yet he has still never truly received the recognition from his peers he rightly deserves.
