James McAvoy

Never has such an excellent performance been so overshadowed by a 12-year-old girl as James’s was by Saoirse Ronan in Atonement. Even in The Last King of Scotland, James's Nicholas Garrigan was swallowed up by the beast that was Forest Whitaker’s Idi Amin. The bigger issue might also be that James is not picking the best roles to exhibit his massive talent. In his first solo leading role, he was applauded for a great performance in Filth, a film which received not great, but not bad, reviews. However, if you’ve ever seen James in a press interview or talk show, you’ll see that he is undeniably a star. James will get there—just give him time.
