Aladdin (1992)

How does Genie know so many references from the 20th century? Well, one theory claims that’s because Aladdin actually takes place in a dystopian future. After all, Genie wakes up after a 10,000 year nap and is able to perfectly imitate the likes of Jack Nicholson, reference air travel and feign as a game show host, which all seem far beyond the film’s timeline. This theory also suggests the Cave of Wonders is a sort of nuclear fallout shelter for the world’s most precious treasures. So maybe Aladdin does take place in some post-apocalyptic future. Then again, maybe it’s all just Genie magic.
